The Australian Red Cross is the latest big charity to sign up with Charity Bid to sell donated goods in support of the most vulnerable people and communities in Australia and internationally. The Red Cross provide relief in times of crisis, care when it's needed most and commitment when others turn away for tens of millions of people around the world each year.

Red Cross retail outlets sell donated goods to raise vital funds to support the everyday work of Red Cross and you can now purchase, donate goods or volunteer your time via the Red Cross Charity Bid page. The Red Cross rely on the community to donate items for them to sell and you can now do so without leaving your home.

Here at Charity Bid we are looking forward to assisting the 166 Red Cross Shops across Australia to source more goods and services, sell more items and create a new source of donations for this iconic Charity. For more information about how to donate items visit

MEET THE STAFF - Declan Adams

Declan Adams – Account Manager

Declan has completed a Batchelor in Business Sport Management, Majoring in Human Resources at Deakin University Burwood. Whilst completing his degree, Declan undertook an internship with us before graduating in mid-2014. Since graduating he has continued on, in a permanent part-time role.

What is your role at Club Bid?
I am an Account Manager, which involves administration, sales and client relations; ultimately getting more users onto the site. Currently, I am focusing on cricket clubs as the cricket season is well and truly underway. My main focus is calling metro and country clubs to get them up and running and using the site. I also assist clients with events and this month we have the Balwyn Cricket Club Presidents luncheon. I have taken a proactive approach by liaising with volunteers and assisting them with sourcing and listing items, as well as advising their live and silent auctions to the public.

What do you like most about working at Club Bid?
I like the environment that I'm in, it’s close to home, I like the people that I work with, it's a good young friendly environment. Your opinions are always taken on board, management never shy away from asking questions of us when it comes to opinions on strategic goals or marketing materials. I also really enjoy that we have a focus on helping not-for-profit organisations to achieve their goals by providing a platform that enables them to raise more funds.

Footy Team you support?
Collingwood footy club and I cop a bit of flack around that, due to the fact that 80% of the office barracks for the cats!!

Any clubs or charities you are involved with?
I am involved with a few clubs. I am involved as a member and supporter of the Moyston Willaura footy club and I am proud to say they won their first grand final ever as an amalgamated club this year, so I have a few friends back there who are still riding that wave. I’m also fairly closely involved with the Buangor Cricket Club; not so much this year as in the past, but I’m a former player and a committee member of the club. I also do some part time work at the Collingwood Football Club in their membership and merchandise department. As for charities, I am currently growing a mo to raise some funds and awareness for Movember.

What motivated you to do that?
My main motivation is from home, I am from a small town in Western Victoria and there has been a big push from young people, including a few of my friends getting involved with Movember. As a collective they have been quite successful raising a fair amount of funds in the last couple of years, so they have encouraged me to jump on board this year and start my own page.

What sort of moustache will you grow?
I don't grow a bad moustache! When I’ve grown one in the past I've been told get rid of it, but my girlfriend is currently away for 5 weeks through the month of November, so it was perfect timing and for a noble cause!

Are you setting a fundraising goal?
I would like to raise at least $450, I have always donated to the Movember cause through friends in the past and they seemed to have a similar goal and I want to make it achievable, so $450 is the goal but through the help of my Charity Bid page hopefully we can get that up around the four figure mark which would be very exciting.

You can support Declan for Movember by donating an item or bidding for items on his Charity Bid page

Sarah Valentine - Hands Across the Water

Recently Geelong business woman Sarah Valentine hosted a Charity auction cocktail evening at Terindah Estate, Bellarine Peninsula. Using Charity Bid and with the generous support of friends and colleagues, Sarah raised $17,550 for the Australian charity “Hands Across the Water”, who give at risk Thai children a helping hand. The proceeds of the auction go directly to the orphanages to help these children.

Sarah, the Founder and Managing Director of Bellarine Business Women has committed to riding 500km, over 5 days in Thailand in February 2015. She is aiming to raise in excess of $20,000 for "Hands Across the Water". Sarah hasn't ridden a bike in over 20 years and at age 40 she said this is the biggest physical and emotional challenge she has ever undertaken.

Sarah was impressed with the Charity Bid service at her fundraising event.

"Archie and the team at Club Bid made our fundraising auction a breeze to put together. Any request or query put to them was addressed immediately and assistance provided every step of the way regarding the process of uploading and bidding on auction items. The team’s attendance at our Charity Gala Evening for Hands Across the Water to assist guests with their online bidding and payments was undertaken in a professional and friendly manner. An absolute delight to deal with and we highly recommend Charity Bid for your fundraising events."

Some stats from the auction- The 32 items sold attracted 147 bids, 86 pre-bids and 61 auction day bids. 23 of the items were listed by donors directly.

Oxfam - Trailwalker

Oxfam Trailwalker has joined Charity Bid to give teams competing across Australia the opportunity to raise more funds by selling auction items and tickets. Every team can create a tailored Charity Bid page to list auctions, receive item donations and interact with friends, family and supporters.

Oxfam Trailwalker began in 1981 as a training exercise for the elite Queen’s Gurkha Signals Regiment in Hong Kong. It has since grown into one of the world’s ultimate team events with almost 200,000 people taking part and $140 million raised in support of Oxfam’s work. Oxfam Trailwalker takes place in India, New Zealand, Spain, Japan, France, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong and Australia.

Oxfam Trailwalker is Australia's original 100km team challenge! Each year more than 2,000 teams take part across Australia, with the support of more than 2,500 volunteers and 6,000 support crew members, and raise more than $6 million. The event currently takes place in four locations, Melbourne, Brisbane Sydney and Perth.
